Transport – digital and sustainable

Concepts for the roads of the future

What will the roads of the future look like? This is the question that was explored by transportation experts from all over Germany in Bonn from 23 to 25 October 2024. The then German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport, along with more than two thousand participants, attended the German Road and Transportation Congress at the World Conference Center Bonn (WCCB).

New rules for German transportation network have a long history

The topics explored at the congress included sustainable transport planning, innovations in road building, and digitalisation and transport management.

With presentation titles such as “Appropriate dimensioning of concrete slabs” there could be no doubt about the genuinely professional calibre of this conference. The organiser FGSV (German Road and Transportation Research Association) has prescribed the rules for our German transport network for a hundred years.

New developments and solutions were presented at the accompanying exhibition

The congress was accompanied by an exhibition – “Roads and Transport 2024” – which showcased the latest developments and solutions in transport planning, road building, environmental technology, digitalisation and mobility strategies. The then German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport took part in the exhibition together with its subordinate agencies the Federal Highway Authority, the Federal Highway and Transport Research Institute, and Autobahn GmbH.
