The European City – Change and Values

The 26th Congress on the Protection of Urban Historic Monuments took place in Berlin from 19–20 June 2018. The event was hosted by the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community (BMI). Gunther Adler, a State Secretary in the Ministry, gave the keynote speech. He spoke about the inventory and successful developments in heritage protection.

There was lively debate on the topics of the Congress in the panel discussion with high-level delegates. Topics included the constant change of heritage protection in Europe and the growing values that shape European cities. After all, it is not only the structural aspects that contribute to the revitalisation and attractiveness of historic urban quarters, so too do the wide range of uses and a vibrant urban society.

The Congress is held with the aim of describing successful developments of historic urban districts as models for other locations. To implement these strategies, suitable instruments must be made available in future too.

Event Consult GmbH had the contract for these areas: accreditation and attendee management, organisation of the Congress in Berlin and the workshops on specific topics, graphics and print products, fit-out, technical support, hostess service and catering.
