Aviation – innovative and climate-neutral

3rd National Aviation Conference in Hamburg

The 3rd National Aviation Conference was held in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg as a hybrid event on 25 September 2023. The venue for the event was chosen to be the premises of Lufthansa Technik. This provided the advantage of allowing innovative new technologies to be presented directly in connection with and on aircraft.

Federal Minister Habeck talks about challenges in aviation

In addition to Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Federal Minister Dr Robert Habeck and Dr Volker Wissing took part in the 3rd National Aviation Conference. Minister Habeck commented positively on the aviation industry: ‘Overall, from a global perspective, we need to fly in a modern world.’ The question in the room was whether ‘climate-neutral flying’ was even possible. That was answered with a ‘Yes’. The minister talked about what tasks lay ahead of the industry on the path to climate-neutral air travel and air freight.

How will aviation become climate-neutral?

The 3rd National Aviation Conference entitled ‘Aviation: Innovative and climate-neutral’ followed the conferences in Leipzig in 2019 and Berlin in 2021. The transformation of aviation towards climate neutrality was contemplated and envisaged here. Innovative industry solutions striking a balance between global needs for mobility and society’s demands for a forward-looking climate protection policy were presented.

Conference as a meeting place for industry

This year’s conference was organised jointly by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg in cooperation with the Bundesverband der Deutschen Luftverkehrswirtschaft e.V., the Bundesverband der Deutschen Luft- und Raumfahrtindustrie e.V. as well as the trade unions ver.di and IG Metall.

Chancellor opens the 3rd National Aviation Conference

Chancellor Scholz opened the National Aviation Conference in Hamburg with the words ‘Flying connects Germany to the world’. Air transport of both passengers and cargo is indispensable for Germany as a high-tech location. The German aviation industry is also already a trendsetter in climate-friendly technologies.

Event Consult takes responsibility

Event Consult was responsible for handling all the organisational and technical aspects. The space utilisation concept was important here, as it also had to incorporate the areas for the exhibition taking place alongside the conference.
