DGCN Anniversary Conference – 20 Years UN Global Compact
The hybrid Anniversary Conference of the German Global Compact Network took place in September 2020. The theme of the event was „THE DECADE OF ACTION: BUSINESS LEADERSHIP IN CHALLENGING TIMES“.
At the beginning of 2020, the UN General Secretary called on the international community to declare the decade the “Decade of Action” for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Accordingly, the year 2020 was also an important milestone for the United Nations’ Agenda 2030.
The hybrid event format
In accordance with current regulations in response to the coronavirus pandemic, there were few people attending the event in person in the hall of the Allianz Forum on Pariser Platz in Berlin. The attendees were primarily the experts on the panel, the moderators and the technology. The venue this time was also officially the internet.
Challenge “Doing business towards a 1.5-degree future”
In the afternoon, Prof. Dr. Dirk Messner, President of the German Environment Agency, was on hand to answer questions relating to climate change mitigation. Talks with leading representatives from business, civil society and politics were also on the agenda. Joining Prof. Dr. Dirk Messner in these talks via video link were Dr. Maria Mendiluce, (CEO, We Mean Business Coalition), Wioletta Rosolowska (CEO L´Oréal Germany & Austria) and Georg Weber (Chief Technology Officer, Wilo Group).
Event Consult’s responsibilities
As usual, Event Consult was responsible for the overall technical organization, the complete fit-out and the graphic design. In addition, our hosts and hostesses were responsible for accreditation and for taking care of the cloakrooms. Preparing the hygiene concept and ensuring compliance with the concept was also the responsibility of Event Consult GmbH.
